Oppo Watch X is here. Oppo has expanded its smartwatch lineup with the launch of Oppo Watch X. The smartwatch resembles a lot to the recently launched OnePlus Watch 2. The Oppo Watch X runs a dual operating system and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The smartwatch sports a circular dial and promises to offer 100 hours of battery backup on a single charge.

Oppo Watch X comes in Platinum Black and Mars Brown colour options. The smartwatch will be available in Malaysia starting March 2. Oppo has not yet revealed any details about the global launch and availability of the smartwatch.

Oppo Watch X stands out for its ability to run on two distinct operating systems: Wear OS by Google and Oppo’s own ColorOS. This flexibility allows users to switch between the two platforms based on their needs and preferences.

Pros:

  • Unique dual OS design: This sets the Oppo Watch X apart from competitors, granting users the ability to leverage the strengths of both Wear OS and ColorOS. Wear OS boasts a comprehensive app ecosystem and seamless integration with Google services, while ColorOS offers a potentially smoother user experience and extended battery life due to its lighter weight.

  • Long battery life: The Oppo Watch X is touted to last up to 100 hours in standard mode and an impressive 12 days in power saver mode. This extended endurance translates to less frequent charging and more uninterrupted use, making it a suitable choice for users who prioritize long battery life.

  • Durable and vibrant display: The 1.43-inch AMOLED display features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal cover and offers a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, ensuring excellent readability even under harsh sunlight. This makes the watch suitable for various activities and environments, whether you’re checking notifications indoors or navigating trails outdoors.

  • Built-in GPS and comprehensive health features: The integrated GPS functionality empowers users to track their workouts and outdoor activities precisely, without relying on their smartphone for location data. This can be particularly beneficial for runners, cyclists, and hikers. Additionally, the Oppo Watch X is equipped with a comprehensive suite of health features, including heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, and sleep tracking. This data can be valuable for monitoring your well-being and gaining insights into your overall health.

Cons:

  • Limited app selection on ColorOS: While ColorOS provides a user-friendly interface and extended battery life, it currently has a smaller app selection compared to Wear OS. This might be a limiting factor for users who rely heavily on specific apps that may not be available on ColorOS.

  • No Google Assistant support on ColorOS: As of now, Google Assistant is not supported on ColorOS. This can be a disadvantage for users who heavily rely on Google’s voice assistant for tasks like setting reminders, making calls, or controlling smart home devices.

  • Higher price point: The Oppo Watch X falls into a higher price bracket compared to some other smartwatches in the market. This might be a deterrent for budget-conscious consumers seeking a feature-rich smartwatch at a more affordable price point.

Additional considerations:

  • The Oppo Watch X also boasts a comfortable fluoro rubber strap that is easily replaceable with any third-party watch straps, allowing users to personalize the look and feel of the watch.
  • The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters, making it suitable for swimming and other water activities.
